Meet our Guest Speakers

Alicia Whitney, MSW

Alicia Whitney is a queer, mixed, Chinese-American femme based in Brooklyn, and currently works as a Technical Recruiter at Orchard, an early-stage tech startup in the real estate space. Alicia considers herself a career-changer and has explored roles across youth counseling, event production, community marketing, employee experience, product management, and recruiting, in both non-profit and tech start-up spaces. Alicia earned her Bachelor’s of Social Work at NYU, and her MSW at Columbia University. Outside of work, she curates a small community on Instagram dedicated to sharing job opportunities and tips for managing the highs and lows of job hunting. In her free time, she can usually be found watching a horror movie, snuggling her senior pup, or snacking (or all of the above).

She currently works for Flatiron School, a tech boot camp with a strong social mission. She continues to use her skills in needs assessment, analysis, and advocacy in her line of work; all skills obtained through her Social Work education.
