Leaders in Corporate Social Work: A Panel discussion

Join us for our next event, Leaders in Corporate Social Work: A Panel Discussion, on Tuesday, September 28th @ 4 pm pacific / 7 pm eastern. You’ll hear from leaders and executives in the private and public sector who have their Masters in Social Work and are working in nontraditional corporate roles. They will share how their social work education and experience have helped them to get to where they are and will share tips for how to pivot into the corporate world.

You will hear from:

Meet our Panelists

Victoria Fan Azalde, MSW

Victoria is the Head of International Accounting and Statutory Reporting at Square Inc where she also serves as the Bay Area Co-Chapter Chair for the Parents Employee Resource Group. Prior to Square, Victoria held various leadership positions at Google Inc, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Uber.

Victoria is a CPA in California. She graduated with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University in New York City where she was a Lowenstein Fellowship Recipient. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Above all, Victoria is a mother to three active children, a puggle and a betta fish. She enjoys yoga, her Peleton, experimenting in the kitchen, and hopefully one day again – traveling. She lives in the San Francisco East Bay with her family.

Luisa Lopez, MSW 

Luisa is a native of New York City and currently serves as President of the Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship Fund, and Director of Digital Media at the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, Gale A. Brewer. She has previously served as Chief of Staff at the NYC Council and served in the Washington, DC office of former Congressman José E. Serrano as a policy fellow focusing on youth homelessness in the South Bronx. 

In her career, she has concentrated on addressing structural challenges by developing and implementing social interventions aimed at effecting positive change at all levels of government. Additionally, Luisa has become an advocate for the increased accessibility and availability of assisted reproductive technology, as well as destigmatizing infertility in communities of color. As President of the Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship, she is a fierce advocate for increasing the number of culturally and linguistically competent social workers serving in New York City’s most vulnerable communities, as well as for the importance and value that social workers bring to all areas of public life and civic engagement. 

Luisa holds B.A. in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross. A social worker by training, Luisa earned her Masters of Social Work from the New York University Silver School of Social Work.

Jesse Maddex, MSW

With an MSW from the University of California, Berkeley, Jesse has spent the majority of his career working at the intersection of enterprise technology and social impact at organizations such as Salesforce.org, Exponent Partners, and PagerDuty. 

Jesse is currently the Director of Nonprofit Market Development at PagerDuty, where he is building the program to help nonprofit organizations manage their time-sensitive, mission-critical technology to expand their social impact. Jesse is originally from Leadville, CO and now lives in Mill Valley, CA with his wife, Kylie, and two sons Cooper (7) and Grant (5).
